Debra trained from the age of three at the Woodman School Canterbury achieving vocational status in RAD, ISTD, IDTA Ballet and ISTD, IDTA Modern and Tap.

She took her first teaching exam AIDTA Ballet at the age of sixteen with ‘Honors’ gaining a full scholarship to the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance she was immediately to teach at the Rambert Junior School while studying for her                                                     Rambert Diploma.

Under her stage name of Carlie Johnson one of her first major roles was playing Fairy Queen/Princess in Charlie Drakes ‘Robinson Crusoe’ Debra has covered all aspects of show business in her professional career.

Teaching: After a long stage and television career Debra taught free lance for fifteen years. She studied her ISTD teaching qualifications at The Centre Performing Arts (Karen King and Gillian Knight) and the Deborah Capon College (Deborah Capon and Tereza Theodoulou) .

She is proud to have trained and choreographed for students now at Vocational Dance College or performing professionally. Her students many of whom were male have won ISTD Janet Cram and Star Tap Awards, All England Finals and her all male Senior Troupe took 1st place at the All England Final–Peacock Theatre, London.

Debra has choreographed shows locally for Canterbury and Herne Bay Operatic Society as well as further a field. Debra founded Next Generation Dance Studio in September 2010 in her home town of Canterbury (Wincheap) the which she is passionate about being her childhood area. She feels privileged to have Dougie Squires OBE and Mary Woodman FISTD, FIDTA as honorary patrons of the Next Generation Dance Studio.

Debra is always looking for new opportunities for pupils at NGDS and is proud to have two bespoke Studios in Canterbury for Next Generation Dance Studio pupils in which to train.

Rachel Hilton: ISTD FDI, CDE Ballet, Modern, Tap

Rachel trained from the age of three. Achieving vocational levels in RAD and ISTD Ballet, ISTD Modern and Tap.

She completed her professional training at Deborah Capon College attaining ISTD FDI and CDE Ballet, Modern and Tap.

Rachel has been teaching freelance for over ten years including state Grammar Schools GCSE/A Level Dance. She has taught and choreographed at various Performing Arts schools in and around Kent and running successful local classes.

Rachel taught for two years in Jersey, taking on the role of Senior Ballet, Modern and Tap teacher. She also taught Street Dance. While in Jersey her choreography won numerous awards in the ‘Dance World Cup’ Jersey. Rachel has choreographed many productions for amateur dramatic societies she has also performed herself in professional pantomimes and taken part in performances at Her Majesty’s Theatre London and Saddlers Wells.

Rachel has worked at Next Generation Dance Studio since it opened in September 2010 and teaches- ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street and Senior and Junior Musical Theatre. Rachel is also part of the NGDS Festival team. Rachel is currently on maternity leave after the birth of her baby boy and will re-join NGDS in April 2018.

Sarah Durey: DDE Modern, DDE Tap & DDI Ballet
Sarah Elizabeth Durey started dancing at 2 ½ years of age. When she left school she went to Miskin Theatre College to study for her Diploma in Dance and Performing Arts (2008 – 2011).Following that Sarah studied under Karen King at The Centre of Performing Arts College in Rochester to gain her teaching qualifications. Sarah attended classes taught by many Teachers and Examiners who are involved with the ISTD and the making of the new Tap syllabi. She graduated in July 2014 with her DDE Modern Theatre, DDE Tap and DDI Ballet.For the last 3 years Sarah has been teaching students at all levels preparing them for exams, festivals and shows.
Sarah is passing on her passion and knowledge for dance to create strong technical dancers and versatile performers.
Sarah is teaching fulltime at NGDS and is part of the Festival Team and has a flair for Choreography. Her versatile training and flexibility is a great asset to the students. Sarah is looking forward to NGDS Summer School 2018.
Sarah is also a qualified Dance/Exercise to Music Teacher. This term she launches her very own class BalleTonercise.

James Middleton

MA Arts and Cultural Management, BA (Hons) Dance Education, A.I.S.T.D Modern and Tap.

James started dancing at the age of 11, and completed his professional training at The Centre Performing Arts College attaining Associate Modern and Tap 2005.

Since graduating, James went on to perform and choreograph professionally in a variety of productions.

Stefan Pascal – Private Lessons – Dance Teacher (Latin and Ballroom specialist)

Stefan joined Next Generation Dance Studio in September 2016. He was born in Romania and studied from the age of ten in all manner of Dance Sport (Latin and Ballroom) Gymnastics and Ballet. The highlight in his personal career was winning the title of Romanian Vice Champion in 2012 among various other successful National and International competitions.

Teaching: Stefan started his teaching career in Bucharest at just seventeen years old. He taught Latin and Ballroom to a group of children who entered competitions with great success. At eighteen he started teaching adults and became renowned for his Wedding Dances arranged beautifully and tailored for each couple. He trained up to 400 couples during this period.

In 2012 Stefan taught for Dance Planet, Bucharest, gaining experience in his teaching styles including Caribbean, Street Dance and Contemporary.

Commercial: His teaching reputation and choreographic skills would lead him to collaborate with TV Channels in Romania -Pro TV, Kanel D, Prima and Antenna TV.

December 2015: Stefan moved to the United Kingdom. He started teaching Dance Fitness in Deal and moderating School Workshops with The Cantastori Theatre Company for their production of ‘Paris and Juliet’ their adaptation of Romeo and Juliet with an Elizabethan Dance Style.

Next Generation Dance Studio: Stefan is now available to give Private Lessons in Latin and Ballroom to Adults and Children. Stefan will also take part in Latin Workshops and is a registered Chaperone with KCC.
